About

MeHi. I’m Chris Nixon. I’m the alter ego of another person who isn’t online. We’re pretty much exactly the same. We look alike, we have the same accent. He’s more a “doing” person, while I just tend to talk about it.

I was born in Brunei in Far East Asia more than 30 years ago. Typing that makes me feel old, but I’m really not. My dad worked for Decca, and my Mum did the rest. She’s Scottish, and my dad is English, though he doesn’t really like to admit it. We had a house in Hexham in Northumberland, England for a while, but when my dad got a job with Shell we moved up to the North East of Scotland. We all live there still, but not in different houses. My sisters and I used to visit our grandparents in Singapore pretty regularly, except one year when they took us to Disney World.

Like everybody else I know, I went to school. It was a bit rubbish at the time, but now I realise it was pretty good. You simply cannot beat finishing your day at 3.30pm. After that I want to the University of Aberdeen, at which point I realised you CAN beat finishing your day at 3.30pm. You can beat it by only having three hours of classes each day.

After that, I took full advantage of my degree, and went into bar management. It was awful, but I made very good friends including my wife. She’s ace. We got married in Las Vegas after a road trip from San Francisco. Las Vegas is fun as long as you don’t mind cigarette smoke, and San Francisco is brilliant as long as you don’t mind hills. As I’ve lived in Scotland for most of my life, hills aren’t a problem.

We like to travel, though don’t get the chance so much these days, especially since the birth of our first child. That being said, if I have to choose, I’d choose The Frog every time. She’s an awesome wee voyage of discovery that Alison and I take every day…plus you don’t have to fight for a sun lounger.
